Palestinian residents in Silwan, East Jerusalem, daily face violent attacks by the Israeli army. Most of the attacks are during the night, 80 residents from the neighbourhood Albustan in Silwan got a house demolition order. Israel is planning to build the King’s Garden in this area. Residents of Albustan are bullied by the army and settlers in order to leave their homes ‘volunteerly’.

To be sure the American impotence vis-à-vis Israel is not intrinsic in nature. The US, which is Israel’s guardian and ally, simply sees no urgent need to get tough with Israel especially as long as its vital interests throughout the Muslim world are not scathed the least as Arab regimes are vying to please and appease Washington.
