In a year when we are going to be marking the centenary of the 1914-1918 War, is it a stretch to view Israel as the Austro-Hungary and the USA as the Germany of today?

The Mandate given to Britain by the League of Nations was over Palestine. The Jews are not to blame that the British gave about 75% of that land to an Arab Bedouin sheik named Abdullah, who became ‘King’ of Transjordan, later the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Israel accepted the Partition Plan of 1947, even giving up our historical right to Jerusalem. The Arabs invaded in 1948, lost land in a war of aggression and again in 1967. If the Arabs weren’t fanatic jihadists, looking to kill Jews, perhaps they would long ago have had a state. This article, which I did not waste my time reading, is a load of rubbish.

Henry: you should have read the article.
You might have learned something from doing so.
The Haganah, Irgun and Stern Gang, as well as their IDF successor, were a bunch of terrorists who were never once threatened by what you call “Arabs”.
In 1948, ben Gurion made a deal with the King of Jordan that they would not fight one another.
As numerous Israeli generals and former heads of their secret services have stated publicly, Israel has never once (except, maybe, in 1973) ever faced a single existential threat to the future of Israel.
Even historians like Benny Morris say the same.
Please stop recycling tired false old stereotypes. It does not impress any educated person anywhere.

Because of Jewish quasi-control of banking, foreign policy of the US and UK and Canada and now Australia as to the Middle East, and Jewish – not Zionist – Jewish power in the media to get Orwellian distortions of the truth in op/ed pieces like this:

    http://www.nytimes.COM/2014/02/17/opinion/israeli-water-mideast-peace.html?hp&rref=opinion&_r=0

Without a major media platform, it is hopeless.

Anyone looking for a surefire way to throw up should read the New York Times article.
It is so full of misleading claptrap where Palestinian water supplies are concerned that it is hard to believe even the Murdoch press would dignify it by publishing it.
Whoever wrote it has clearly never been to Gaza or the West Bank areas of Palestine.
I guess the clue is in the name of the author, Seth Siegel.
    Wasn’t Bugsy Siegel a 1930s USA racketeer?
