On August 5, 2010 Israel’s Haaretz newspaper, citing a Fars (Iran) news service story, reported that a non-governmental organization in Iran had “launched a Website with cartoons on the Holocaust aimed at undermining the historic dimensions of the mass murder of Jews.” Israelis and Zionists reacted angrily to this announcement. Spokesmen at Yad Vashem, Israel’s national Holocaust museum stated that the website was “yet the latest salvo emanating from Iran that denies the facts of the Holocaust and attempts to influence those who are ignorant of history.” The Haaretz report also noted, somewhat resentfully, that “since the 1979 Islamic revolution , Iran has not acknowledged Israel as a sovereign state and even refrained from using the name Israel, instead referring to the Jewish state as the Zionist regime.”
This is obviously a hot button issue and so I will begin my examination of this report by stating that the Holocaust is a proven factual event and the number of six million Jewish victims killed is roughly accurate. Histories based on detailed research on this subject include the early classic study by Raul Hilberg, The Destruction of the European Jews, first published in 1961 and followed later by his Sources of Holocaust Research (2001). Other recent works include David Engel’s The Holocaust: The Third Reich and the Jews (1999) and S. Hochstadt, Sources of the Holocaust– Documents in History (2004). There are many other works as well.
Iran’s academics are no fools. Many of them have been trained in Western universities, but even those who have been trained elsewhere or locally are well read, multilingual, and every bit as intelligent as scholars you will find in the West. Thus, my feeling is that most Iranian historians and others familiar with the research on the Holocaust know the truth of the matter. Indeed, when I was in Iran in 2005 I did not find any academics raising questions about the reality and extent of the Holocaust. However, five years later we are witness to regular attacks coming from Iran on the traditional interpretation of the Holocaust. So what is going on here? Is it just that the present Iranian leaders are a bunch of anti-Semites as the Zionists would have us believe? Or is there something else behind this questioning of a seminal tragedy?
Understanding the Holocaust As a Western Event
For the West, the most disastrous event of the last century was the Holocaust. Yet, as horrible as the Holocaust was, it also was mainly a Western affair. With some justification one might argue that the lessons to be learned from the Holocaust are universal, but that does not negate the fact that Westerners did this to themselves. Thus, there is no reason why the West’s tragedy has to be the tragedy of all other peoples. This is an important fact and it helps explain why, if one goes to the Arab world today and asks people what is the greatest disaster of the 20th century, you are not going to get the Holocaust as the most common answer. Rather, from a good number of Arabs the answer will be the Nakba– the massive dispossession of the Palestinian people by Zionist invaders. Unfortunately, since 1948 an added complication has crept into this equation. Because of the attitude taken by the leaders of Israel and their Zionist supporters, the two disasters, the Holocaust and the Nakba, have become inextricably intertwined.
Despite the fact that modern Zionism predates the Holocaust by half a century, that disaster has been consistently used by the Zionists to justify the need for the Israeli state. Therefore, the notion that Israel stands as a defense against a new Holocaust is present in much of the propaganda that makes the West’s Zionist lobbies so powerful. In this storyline, the Palestinians who resist Israeli aggression are simply reduced to latter day Nazis. This claim was most recently made explicit by Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, in his September 25, 2009 speech before the United Nations General Assembly. In that speech Netanyahu compared Hamas to the Nazis and the firing of Qassam rockets with the London Blitz during World War II. As a corollary to this stance, any criticism of Israeli behavior is said to weaken the defenses against a new genocide of the Jews and is therefore, ipso facto, an expression of anti-Semitism.
Unfortunately, even if you believe that Israel is a necessary retreat for threatened Jewry, the use of the Holocaust as a justification for Israel and its policies is a grave strategic mistake. For by underpinning its continued existence on preventing a second Holocaust, the defenders of Israel invite some of their adversaries to call into doubt the first Holocaust. As we have seen, these opponents, now led by Ahmadinejad of Iran, assert that the Zionists have, at best, exaggerated the victimhood of the Jews during World War II, or that they might be just making it all up to justify stealing Palestine. Thus, the website that has caused all the uproar is, according to Haaretz, “dedicated to those [Palestinians] who have been killed under the pretext of the Holocaust.” In short, if you can establish doubt about your enemy’s core argument you have struck that enemy a serious blow.
Who is the Target Audience?
In this effort it is unlikely that the Iranian president or those behind the recent website are simply poking their fingers into the proverbial Western eye. The populations to whom they are really talking do not live in the West. They live in the non-Western world and more specifically the Muslim lands. Most of this audience have no more knowledge of modern European history than their Western counterparts have of Arab or Muslim history. Except, of course, that educated non-Westerners can readily identify the West with the history of modern imperialism. For many of them that is local history–the kind that stays in the collective memory for generations. So while the average citizen of the Muslim lands probably knows little about the reality of the Holocaust, they are likely to know a lot about Israel as a surviving symbol of their immediate ancestors imperialist experience. Under the circumstances, convincing them that the Holocaust is a Western ploy to justify an imperialist crime is not such a difficult task. And, that is just what Iran’s anti-Holocaust rhetoric is all about.
An End Result
Before righteous indignation sets in over this deception, keep in mind that the Zionist movement has just as easily convinced most Israeli and Zionist Jews of the correctness of Nakba denial. That is, that the Nakba never really happened and that the history of the founding of Israel was nothing other than the heroic struggle of a people to survive.
The website in question seems to have been discontinued, perhaps because it was unauthorized by the government. But its brief existence should teach us a lesson. The West as well as the East is indeed full of “those who are ignorant of history.” This does not mean, however, that they have no sense of any history at all. Rather, it means that the history they believe in is often contrived and distorted. This points the way to the lesson to be learned– what motivates us, and this includes our leaders, is not what is true, but rather what we think is true. Sometimes the two might be close enough that when we act we do so in a relatively effective way. But more often than not the two exist at some distance from each other, and it is then that we often walk off a cliff.
I am not sure how one can correct this situation. But it is an enormous problem in a world were there are no longer any sanctuaries. Where, for us Americans, the oceans no longer protect us.

There is no doubt that millions of innocent Jews suffered and died because of Hitler’s racial theories put into practice by racist, overzealous and ill-trained soldiers.
There is far less evidence that the Nazis consciously planned to kill millions of Jews, but rather that they were in the process of exporting the Jews out of Germany.
There is nothing anti-semitic about saying this. All of us can agree that the Jews suffered terribly and need help healing. However, it is important to examine all evidence and understand that war did not stop the holocaust, rather it was war that caused the holocaust.
The holocaust today is the fundamental building block of war and aggression toward the third world. It is the vindicating principle upon which the anglo-american domination of the middle-east and other third world countries is based. Why do you think every leader, (Noriega, Ahmindinajahd, Milosovic, Hussien) gets labeled as the next “Adolf Hitler” before the US invades? Those who love war the most are the most adamant defenders of holocaust orthodox dogma.
Let’s face it, if the US lost the war and had its railroads, bridges and freeways bombed to oblivion by the Germans, Italians and Japanese, the axis powers would be showing films today of piles of dead and emaciated Japanese being liberated from concentration camps in the US and few would believe that FDR had wanted to relocate them for their own protection.
The axis powers were evil because they were fascinated with war. Anything beyond that is sloppy British and Soviet propaganda which is unravelling more and more year by year. Even the ADL has admitted the soap from human fat story is bogus. I don’t care how racist someone is, they are still going to be repulsed by the idea of using human skin for lampshades – so much of the holocaust mythology is based on violence to simple reason. Nazis were evil, but not anymore than any empire that becomes drunk on a sense of its own power.
The real tragedy of WW2 was that the Allies wouldn’t allow Jews to emigrate. Without war there would have been no holocaust. Never again means working to move beyond war.

Hi Jay. There is more than enough evidence that the Nazis had every intention of murdering every single Jew on the face of the earth. There was no plan to export the Jews, only ship them to the Camps. Also, Japanese and German POW’s were well treated by the Allies in comparison to Japan’s atrocities. The real tragedy of WW2 was not that the Allies wouldn’t allow Jewish emigration, it was the abject horror of Nazi and Japanese aggression. Read your history. I have. The record speaks for itself. Well, of course, the situation of ignorance described in the article could be corrected if more people told the truth instead of perpetrating myths. Academics, journalists, clergy and politicians, the people society pays to think and make decisions, have completely abdicated any sense of truth and justice. Rather than confront the twisted history, myths, lies and crimes of Zionists, these spineless sycophants celebrate and glorify them.
Also, this article reminds me of one of Ahmadinejad’s public arguments presented a few years ago: It cannot be true that millions of Jews were murdered in Europe sixty years ago, because if it were, then the Europeans, not the Palestinians, would have been punished by losing land to the Jews.
Of course, I wish that Ahmadinejad and the Iranian regime were less abrasive and more articulate defenders of Palestine. On the other hand, Ahmadinejad is sometimes clever in exposing the illogic and hypocrisy of the West. For example, when the West was busy defending freedom of the press in Europe to insult Islam’s prophet, Ahmadinejad sponsored his convention of holocaust skeptics, explaining that these skeptics could be arrested in Europe simply for the “crimes” of questioning conventional history or criticizing Israel. It would be interesting to test the reaction of British and Danish authorities if local cartoonists portrayed their monarchs (not even prophets) with compromising images.

Dr. Davidson, with all due respect you haven’t done any research on the Holocaust at all. You haven’t watched the Zundel trial, you haven’t read the Mueller document, you haven’t reviewed the archeological digs at Sobibor which attempted to find gas chambers and mass graves or the ground-penetrating radar studies which attempted to find mass graves. Nor have you read the Red Cross’s reports on the camps and nor have you read about the chemical analysis done to detect the levels of Zyklon-B gas in the alleged homicidal gas chambers at Auschwitz. You are apparently not aware that the British had cracked the German encryption codes and could read all communications sent to and from the allegedly homicidal camps and found no instance of any communication indicating the existence of an extermination program.
You can not name a single person who was killed in a gas chamber. You do not know anybody who can name such a person. You are apparently not aware that the official story of the holocaust has been retreating as time has gone on. The Jewish soap story is now admitted to be false. The lamps-made-from-human-skin story is likewise now admitted to be a lie.

Well, in fact, most of the concentration camps were not extermination camps. Particularly, none of the camps (or their satellite camps) located near large German cities were extermination camps They were brutal, inhumane and murderous work camps. Their prisoners included anyone the Nazis feared or hated (socialists, communists, intellectuals, Jews, Christian opponents, Russian soldiers). The fact that a British report finds no evidence of gas chambers in some camps makes perfect sense. A good book to read on the subject is The SS State, written by Eugen Kogon shortly after the war.

What is significant about the Muller report is that it shows there were eyewitness accounts of gassings in the camps listed, accounts which, if the Allied Commissions are correct, were delusional at best. This raises questions about gassings at the 6 camps in Poland (Auschwitz et al.) which are maintained to have taken place to this day, even though the only evidence of such gassings is eyewitness accounts.

I cannot speak about the other Axis powers, but Hitler, Goering and other high ranking German officials hated war, having taken part in WWI and experienced its horrors first hand.
It has been revealed by a British historian who did extensive research in government archives, that Hitler had made 41 peace offers to England by the time Rudolf Hess made his peace-seeking flight in May of 1941. The offers included withdrawal from all lands occupied during the war and payment of the costs of rebuilding those countries. Of course these offers were all refused.
And Hess, the seeker of peace was imprisoned in England, then convicted as a “war criminal” at the Nuremberg show/witch trials, kept in solitary confinement for the rest of his life in Spandau prision, and finally murdered when it appeared that he was about to be released. Obviously it is important for the “victors” of WWII to maintain the fiction of Germany’s sole war guilt.
According to the eminent historian James J. Martin in his book Revisionist Viewpoints, Winston Churchill was asked by a reporter in 1943, prior to his leaving to meet with Roosevelt in Quebec, whether they planned to offer peace terms to Germany. Churchill’s response: “Heavens, no. They would accept immediately.”
So who was it who was “fascinated with war’?

That’s right, and the sooner it unravels completely the better, so it can no longer be used as an excuse for further ethnic cleansing and mass murder.

True, one can blame the strict sanctions of the Versailles Treaty for aiding Hitler’s rise to power, but please don’t suggest that Hitler was a peace activist. Read the history! I have. During the 1990s forensic test and excavations were performed at numerous concentration camp sites where eye witnesses have said that “millions of Jews were gassed and shot etc…” None of these test and excavations ever found mass graves containing large numbers of bodies, and the graves that were found contained only the approximate number of fatalities that would have been normal under the circumstances I.E. old age, sickness and typhus epidemics that were common in Germany throughout the war. Particularly during the last year of the war from round-the-clock allied bombing raids that destroyed nearly all medical services as well as the food chain. So the important question becomes; If the Nazis murdered 6 million Jews where did they put the bodies? It’s not easy to hide or destroy large numbers of human remains so where are all those bodies? Similar forensic excavations were performed at about the same time period (1991)at the Katyn Forest massacre in Poland and all the bodies of the Polish officers were found right where the Soviets had buried them. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that the propaganda behind the Jewish Holocaust is pure BS. none of it can be confirmed by written or forensic evidence because the bodies cannot be found and although diligent searches have been made, no “final solution” documents have ever been produced. The only excuse anyone has for believing in this myth is due to gross ignorance or a complete lack of intellectual honesty.

Actually, you are factually wrong. No can prove six million Jews dies during WWII. Roughly accurate is simply not good enough.
Aside from the blatantly Talmudic nature of the six million figure there is simply no evidence, either physical or documentary, that this number of Jews were killed. No doubt many many Jews died, but so did Poles, Russian, Gypsies, homosexuals, mentally impaired and even Germans.
And since Israels inception all we have had from the Zionist regime is blatant lie piled upon blatant lie. So, why should we all accept that six million Jews dies simply because the Zionists say so when there is no evidence?
Historical research on the Nazi concentration/work camps is the only way to get more accurate information, but as you know, this is illegal in many countries. Does that make sense?

The above post agrees with much of what I have discovered when looking deeper in the story of the Holocaust. I have found that there is extensive evidence that no mass graves existed, that the designs of supposed gas chambers would not work as gas chambers… The list goes on and on. It doesn’t help the Jews that their story includes lampshades and soap that were proven to be false. It doesn’t help that even today, I think up in Canada, there are stories of Holocaust Soap being sold in a souvenir shop. False is false. But the myths keep getting told again and again, but only by Jews. Nobody else ever seems to discover Jewish stuff, except Jews. And so often, nearly every time, it is proven to be falsified.
Take for example all the Jews caught in just the last couple of years where we are told some evil person painted a swastika or something on the dorm room door of some Jewish student only to later find out that the Jewish victim put it there themselves. And then we get all kinds of excuses about why they did it. That they were overcome by some deep connection to ancestors killed by Nazis or some other silly story, and we’re all supposed to forget the lie and go back to our lives.
We get stories of Jews finding artifacts in Jerusalem “proving” Jewish ties to the land, only to find out the items were fakes.
All of these endless lies and discoveries, none of whom ever come from non-Jewish people, portrays the Jews as desperate liars willing to fabricate any story, anything they have to, to justify… what? Stealing Palestine from Palestinians? The Holocaust they have meted out on the Palestinians?
I recommend you watch the series 1/3rd of the Holocaust. It’s a pretty straightforward look at just three supposed concentration camps and the story we’ve been told about them. It looks at the official Holocaust story, including a deep, deep look at the Raul Hilberg fellow you mentioned in the above, and takes it all apart so easily. It shows that as soon as your story is shown to be full of holes and diliberate lies, the rest of the story becomes simply unbelievable.
It’s much more polite to say that it is your personal opinion that the Holocaust happen rather than say it is a proven fact. Proven for you perhaps. Proven for everyone? Clearly not. Four posts and the score is 2-2. Next you will say it has been proven that the World Trade Centers came down by plane impacts alone without the help of explosives, including building 7, and nobody doubts this. That Saddam Hussein was proven to have Nukes. That it has been successfully proven that the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan had nothing whatsoever to do with oil and other resources and building more bases in strategic regions.
You can say you buy in to those stories, but you might find that the number of people who agree with you is half at best.

Hi Epiphany. Try not to take this personally, but I have never read such ridiculous comments such as yours in my life. I’m a student of history, well read. There is ample evidence of the Jewish holocaust- film, eyewitness reports, Nazi records. Please, do some serious research. If you can, visit one of the sites of the Concentration Camps. Could you cite a couple of those Nazi records? As to concentration camps, the room at Dachau presented as a gas chamber has a ceiling 7 1/2 ft. high in which are embedded sheet-metal showerheads not connected to any pipes, but a congressional delegation which visited Dachau two days after its liberation reported the room as having a ceiling 10 ft. high with brass showerheads actually connected to pipes. Sounds like someone built themselves a gas chamber, doesn’t it, only it wasn’t the Germans. The holocaust story is full of such anomalies, non sequiturs, incredulities, myths, and out-and-out frauds. Hi Ken. I visited Dachau back in 1988 and it is well documented that the gas chambers at Dachau were never used, unlike many of the other Camps. Most of the deaths at Dachau were due to disease, starvation, and other methods of execution. The crematorium however, was well used.

I trust you didn’t miss my point; namely, that there never was a gas chamber at Dachau until after it was liberated, and then only a phony one. Curious that you equate disease and starvation with “methods of execution”. Was the disease and starvation which swept the camps in which German POWs were held after the war, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands, the method of execution adopted by the Allies as the Final Solution to the German problem?

Hi Ken. Allow me to clarify my previous comments. Other methods of execution does not include disease and starvation. I meant executions by firing squads and hanging.
I don’t see the point in arguing with you further. You obviously believe that the Jewish Holocaust is a grand myth, perpetrated by Zionists. I firmly believe that at least 6 million Jews were butchered, and yes the Allies were not innocent of atrocities either. War is hell. Apart from the Jews, millions of other civilians from a host of nations, races and creeds were also sacrificed during the War. However, 6 million Jews were killed. The evidence exists. What really upsets me, are those who try to portray Hitler as a man who wanted peace. Hitler was a truly demented, and sadistic human. Thank God he and his Nazi henchmen were stopped.
I do wish to see the creation of a free, democratic Palestine as a peaceful neighbour of Israel. Claiming the Holocaust never happened does not further the cause for a free Palestine.
On the other hand their is ample reason to doubt many of the specifics of the Holocaust narrative. especially the six million figure. There are many well researched books (Dissecting the Holocaust by Germar Rudolf, for example) that Dr. Davidson could have cited in his article to show why Jewish claims regarding the Holocaust is questioned.

How many of you guys knew that denying the Holocaust in some European countries is an actual criminal offense and can be punishable by jail time?

I figure Mr. Lawrence threw out the 6 million quote you refer to as a cheap, no-cost way of mollify the Jewish trollers who are seaching the internet and blogs for anti-jewish, anti-zionist remarks. Keep in mind that writers in general have very large egos and many blog writers envision themselves as someday becoming a main stream syndicated columnist. I’m an American; and I grew up being inundated with Holocaust propaganda starting in elementary school. Finally, I started thinking for myself on the subject and I realized that there really isn’t any proof of it. What proof is there? Piles of dead bodies? That could have been caused by anything such as disease. It probably was caused by disease. The reason that people in the Mid-East don’t believe in it isn’t because they’re ignorant of it. Rather, they just haven’t been brainwashed the way children in Western societies have been programmed.

The holocaust myth is somewhat analagous to the true story of a man who successfully robbed an armored truck containing many thousands of dollars in cash. Although the robbery itself was a masterpiece of planning and execution, the robber was easily caught because he had failed to realize that it is physically impossible to hide or dispose of such a large volume of money. If the Nazis had indeed murdered 6 million Jews, they would have had the same problem. It has been estimated by civil engineers that it would have required several hundred acres of mass graves to hold that many bodies.

I’ve been reading these posts and it’s interesting that none of them refer to the collaboration between Zionist settlers in Palestine and the Nazis during World War 2.
Lenni Brenner edited a book “51 Documents: Zionist Collaboration with the Nazis” which shows direct and indirect evidence of the extent to which Zionists and Nazi Germany worked closely together, even wrecking a global economic boycott of Nazi Germany during the 1930′s initiated by American Jews.
It is known also that after Nazi Germany invaded and occupied Hungary that they did a deal with Rudolf Kastner in which he would appeal to the Jewish Agency in Istanbul (which represented the Zionists in Palestine) to try to save Hungarian Jews from deportation to concentration camps in Poland. To my knowledge, Kastner did the best he could but the Jewish Agency refused to assist him. As a result, thousands of Hungarian Jews perished when they could have been saved.
