Even a completely false accusation of anti-Semitic thinking can end a promising career. Problem for Israel: keeping it bottled up makes it much worse when it finally explodes. Americans understand that most governments are (even) worse than Israel BUT Americans are not forced to pay five billion a year and supply weapons to any except Israel. We are not forced to pander to a "special relationship" that we really do not want...except with Israel. My suggestion for AIPAC: $5 billion a year is not an insurmountable voluntary contribution from the American Jewish community. ESPECIALLY if tax rates on the rich were lowered. Many Jews proudly claim they pay over half of all income taxes. Fine. Keep your taxes and fork it over to Israel. That way, my hands are clean and it is none of my business.
