US Cutting Gaza Lifeline
By Ann Wright
Making an American ‘Impenetrable Underground Wall’ the Laughing Stock of the World—Leave It to the People of Gaza
December 10, 2009 – No doubt at the instigation of the Israeli government, the Obama administration has authorized the United States Army Corps of Engineers to design a vertical underground wall under the border between Egypt and Gaza.
In March, 2009 the United States provided the government of Egypt with $32 million in March, 2009 for electronic surveillance and other security devices to prevent the movement of food, merchandise and weapons into Gaza. Now details are emerging about an underground steel wall that wil be 6-7 miles long and extend 55 feet straight down into the desert sand.
The steel wall will be made of super-strength steel put together in a jigsaw puzzle fashion. It will be bomb proof and can not be cut or melted. It will be “impenetrable,” and reportedly will take 18 months to construct. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8405020.stm)
The steel wall is intended to cut the tunnels that go between Gaza and Egypt.
The tunnels are the lifelines for Gaza since the international community agreed to a blockade of Gaza to collectively punish the citizens of Gaza for their having elected in Parliamentary elections in 2006 sufficient Hamas Parliamentarians that Hamas became the government of Gaza. The United States and other western countries have placed Hamas on the list of terrorist organizations.
The underground steel wall is intended to strengthen international governmental efforts to imprison and starve the people of Gaza into submission so they will throw out the Hamas government.
Just as the steel walls of the US Army Corps of Engineers at the base of the levees of New Orleans were unable to contain Hurricane Katrina, the US Army Corps of Engineers’ underground steel walls that will attempt to build an underground cage of Gaza will not be able to contain the survival spirit of the people of Gaza.
America’s super technology will again be laughed at by the world, as young men dedicated to the survival of their people, will again outwit technology by digging deeper, and most likely penetrating the “impenetrable” in some novel, simple, low-tech way.
I have been to Gaza 3 times this year following the 22-day Israeli military attack on Gaza that killed 1,440, wounded 5,000, left 50,000 homeless and destroyed much of the infrastructure of Gaza. The disproportionate use of force and targeting of the civilian population by the Israeli military is considered by international law and human rights experts as as violations of the Geneva conventions.
When our governments participate in illegal actions, it is up to the citizens of the world to take action. On December 31, 2009, 1,400 international citizens from 42 countries will march in Gaza with 50,000 Gazans in the Gaza Freedom March to end the siege of Gaza. They will take back to their countries the stories of spirit and survival of the pople of Gaza and will return home committed to force their governments to stop these inhuman actions against the people of Gaza.
Just as American smart bombs in Afghanistan and Iraq have not conquered the spirit of Aghans and Iraqis, America’s underground walls in Gaza will never conquer the courage of those who are fighting for the survival of their families.
One more time, the American government and the Obama administration has been an active participant in the continued inhumane treatment of the people of Gaza and should be held accountable, along with Israel and Egypt for violations of human rights of the people of Gaza.

Thanks, Ann, fellow Code Pinkers, and others who will be supporting the people of Gaza. In America millions will join in soldarity with the Gaza Freedom March on Dec. 31st. Millions are appalled and ashamed at the apparant betrayal by Obama on human decency and human rights. In the eyes of the world, Israel and US policies lack integrity and honor. So what else is new??? We continue to seek Peace & Justice!

James, I take exception with your comments, “Intel is investing in Israel because we are smart people” etc. Radical Zionism is ruining Judism! How can you be so blind and dumb!?????

Indeed, Thanks Ann! it’s great to see an American stand up for the truth of what is going on in the Mideast today. If more of us could be like you, these wars would have to go on without our help, and they’d go on at a smaller acale, or not at all.

A trillion thanks Ms. Ann for posting this article. Indeed, if the young men of Gaza were without imagination the people would have died of starvation or given up to their criminal enemies. Wish there were many Americans like you, yet I do not lose hope: The American people will wake up one day and revolt against the submission of his administrations to the Zionist Lobby and Entity. God bless you

I am appalled that the Obama government would order the US Army Corps of Engineers to participate in genocide at the behest of a foreign government when there are many infrastructure projects in the United States are going begging for lack of funds and other resources. I am glad to see that individual Americans are bringing this news to the rest of the world. I am sure ingenious Palestinians will find a cheap, low-tech way around or through this stupid and expensive barrier.

We could use that money to build our own wall. I Am I the only one to think of this

How will the steel withstand thermite? Doesn’t seem feasible. Or do they think the Palestenians can’t obtain thermite?

Give me a break.. it’s bad enough we are involved in this travesty with supplying israel weapons AND money.. now we are going as far to sell them a bill of goods.. the word impenetrable means basically “no way to penetrate” and as seeing that all metals have a molecular weak point inherent within it’s design because of the materials in question (this case being steel which is nothing more then a high level of iron with a ratio of carbon) would mean its a “lie”…
Clay, powdered and or ground magnesium in the right quantities would make short work of the metal itself.. seems to me they are not telling you something, the way they are throwing around the word as having any real value, would mean that the misrepresentation of what “type” of metal used is in order to skew the understanding that “steel alloy” is used (probably laminated steel alloy containing an amount of nickel to raise the temperature level to a higher grade before it reaches melting point) which is a moot point as magnesium mixed with aluminum and a few other ingredients when put into a medium (such as clay) can be a weak form of thermate (or thermite can be used instead are as well)
Guess What I am trying to say here is that this is first of all “A TRAVESTY” that we support such actions and will go as far as to give israel money and supplies in armaments as well as food, then to add this to the list of traitorous actions to the American People, is beyond reproach as those responsible should be tried for treason and for war crimes to another countries people for the sake of israel’s desires

I fear that the Zionists will succeed in genocide-ing the entire Palestinian population. It IS what they are good at. Murder, mass murder, deception, then even more bloody savage, blood thirsty murder. Sixty years of history shows that plainly. To all but the purposefully ignorant. jz

Hello Ann:
Thanks for this email and, God will definitely look after you and your family for ever. He is happy that you are showing this cruelty of US, Israel and Egypt to the people. The heads of these countries are not following their religion, or any religion for that matter, because religion is nothing but love for people. Also these heads are arrognat and forgetting that God is most powerful. He is the Most Kind but also very fair in His judgement.
May God wake up the heads of these countries and may God bring peace in this world…..ameen
